Hyalase

Hyaluronidase is an enzyme which breaks down hyaluronic acid filler. It is used in aesthetic medicine to dissolve HA fillers and in the case of emergency.

All patients except in an emergency are required to undergo a skin patch test prior to injection of Hyaluronidase. The skin patch test is carried out by injecting into the subcutaneous tissue of the forearm and observed for signs of reaction. If a positive patch test result is observed, treatment cannot be carried out. Erythema or redness and slight vasodilation are common and expected side-effects.
